Eastern Mudminnow (umbra pygmaea)
The Eastern Mudminnow is a fascinating, durable native fish found in slow, muddy waters across the U.S. With its torpedo-shaped body, mottled brown coloration, and tolerance for low oxygen conditions, this fish is ideal for Coldwater aquariums, native biotope setups, and outdoor ponds. A bottom-oriented species, it spends much of its time foraging near substrate and can survive in tough conditions where many other fish cannot.
● Size: 2.5-3.5 inches
● Temperament:Peaceful to Semi-aggressive; best kept with similarly sized fish
● Habitat: Prefers cool, still, or slow-moving water with soft substrate
● Diet: Omnivorous-accepts worms, small invertebrates, pellets, and frozen foods
● Care Level: Easy to Moderate; Coldwater tolerant and low-maintenance
Great for native species enthusiasts or anyone wanting a rugged, interesting bottom-dweller. The Eastern Mudminnow adds a unique touch to temperate aquariums and ponds.
